Tri Club of San Diego

30 01 2008

So I went to a meeting on Monday for beginners and how to schedule their training for a triathlon. It was 2 hours but it went by so fast because of all the good information that was there. The triathlon coach that was there giving the talk was Mike Plumb. It sounds from his experience that he is a good coach. I might look at using his coaching in March. He said he has about 20 years experience. I got a lot of info from that session though. I did swim on Sunday and yesterday. I think my swimming is getting better. I tried to go as far as I could till I couldn’t swim. I did about a lap and a half. Monday I did some bike in the gym and run about 4 miles. I will be attending the meeting on thursday and see if I can get my member info done there.

More training

28 01 2008

Well yesterday I tried to continue my training in swimming. I went back and forth between doing freestyle and also some drills. I feel that my legs are still not strong enough. I have troubles doing the first drill sometimes and it is only on my back. I guess I might have to just dedicate more time in the drills and focus on that. It will help develop my all around form and technique. Anybody have and ideas on how to help me. I still have troubles just making it to the end of the 25m. I make myself finish but I am out of breath at that time. I would like to be able to do 50m non stop. I still have 15 weeks till the triathlon in May, but time is running short and I don’t know what I am going to do. I also ran about half a mile and biked for 40 minutes. I feel those just come naturally compared ot the swimming.

Quixtar and the Business

28 01 2008

I get excited sometimes and not but this business is second to none. I believe with hard work and dedication that your dreams can come true. It is hard to explain everything about it but it is what I look forward to and will do what I can to grow within it. If you are looking at a business or any way of making ongoing money, let me know and I may help you out.

Day after Day

23 01 2008

So I swam again yesterday. I had to wait half an hour to get into the pool. I started with some back drills from TI. Then continued to do others and some freestyle. I guess its hard to practice too without any instruction. Any help would be appreciated!

Total Immersion Swimming

22 01 2008

So I went to the gym after reading more of the Total Immersion book by Terry Laughlin. I was a little bit scared to try some but I knew that this would help me. I did start my swimiming with doing kicking on my back. I probably did a couple laps of that and then transitioned to doing some body rotation left and right but on my back. I tried also some freestyle and tried some more with breathing and extending the stroke. It was a little overwhelming because of the different drills I was trying to accomplish. I will try again tonight the same drills and try to keep in mind everything else. I am seeing progress but I feel like all I want to do is just start swimming already.

Swim Day 2

18 01 2008

So I went to another meeting yesterday for the San Diego Tri Club. It wasn’t as detailed as the last one but the did mention all the great things that the club has to offer. I am a little scared still with my swimming. I did swim about 250m at the gym pool and it did seem a lot easier than the first time. I have to learn my breathing technique. I feel sometimes when I get to the end of the lane for the wall I hold my breath longer than I should. I am trying to learn the technique for breathing on both sides. Maybe I am going too fast and should learn one thing at a time. Anyhow I bought some shoelaces to help me not tie them faster and they seem to work. It was a little tough to put on at first because I didn’t know what to do. I just went to their site and found the instructions.

Swimming Day 1

16 01 2008

Wow, I knew it was going to be tough but I didn’t expect it to be that bad. Last time I remember swimming was during the summer at the beach but nothing compared to the laps at the gym. I wouldn’t even really consider that I was doing laps. I forgot to ask how far the gym pool was but I did 5 full laps back and forth. I did a half lap and rested anywhere from 30 seconds to a minute. I need to work on breathing and figure out if my technique is correct or not. For the first 4 laps I was only breathing on my right side while on the last lap I tried to do both sides. It felt a little weird to breathe on the left. I also should have waited a little bit to come out of the pool. When I got out of the pool, I got dizzy from getting out too fast and maybe as I pulled myself out I had my head below me heart. I then went to the locker room to towel off.  After that I did go cycling for 25 minutes. I guess I am on my way to doing the triathlon.
