Fartlek training

Yesterday was my first day of track workouts with the Team. We did some Fartlek training. It was a tough workout. It consisted of the coach yelling out when to go on and off. When it was on we would have to run at 80% of our max pace which he said would be about a 10k pace then when he said off to run at 60% at a marathon pace.

I liked this workout a lot. I never really done it myself but doing it at a track was cool along with all the other people that were there to do it with. There was about 12 or so of us. Not everyone was at the same level but it motivates you to do better in a way. I was in no way the fastest or the slowest. I was probably somewhere in the top 3rd.

During the on parts I was running a sub 8 min/mile pace and during the off parts I was running a 9 min/mile pace. I didn’t have my heart rate monitor watch but I ran about 4.25 miles during this training. I averaged close to a 8 min/mile pace overall and my watch said that I burned over 500 calories.

My foot is feeling better. I have been going to Rehab United. I have gone to 3 sessions and each one getting more intense and better at the same time. The first visit was easy with stretch exercises and some squat and reach and other moves to help with the mobility of my left ankle, hip and foot. The second time felt nice. I was doing a lot of workout with squats and weird moves that I really never have done. This past Tuesday was even more intense. I felt like I went to the gym. I was doing lunges, squats and lots of stretching. Sean Hill has helped me tremendously throughout my rehab of my foot.
