February 11, 2010 Spin Class

Well I just attended my first spin class session yesterday.
It was tough. I think I need to get a new seat now because the hour that I was on the bike, makes my butt sore. I am in some pain and I am wondering how I am going to be tomorrow on my 25 mile bike ride.

I think my watch is off also. My update to my garmin website shows my workout as being on January 25th. I also want to buy some new shorts. I looked at some shorts over at bicycle warehouse where we had the spin class. They cost over $100. I don’t understand the price sometimes. I want to look around but I guess I don’t have much time.

I need new batteries for my cycle computer. I need to replace all three so that they are just in brand new working condition. I needed the cadence during the spin class most of all because it helped for everything because the instructor was yelling out speeds to follow and I was stuck trying to watch the guy next to me or the instructor to follow the speed he was yelling out.

I never knew how tough it was to maintain some of the speeds, especially the ones in the 100s. We did several different ones like that where he would start at 60 rpm and increments of 5 all the way up to 100.

One of the new ones that we did was the ILT (Individual Leg Training) or SLT (Single Leg Training). That really felt weird and I never knew a lot of things in spin class that they talked about. Pulling on the upstroke versus always pushing downstroke really helps the muscles and the leg strain. I guess the pulling is really helpful when going up hill and it will make the hills a lot easier than to push.
