P90x

So here is the new goal that I will be doing soon. I don’t know if you all have heard of P90x. I saw it about a month and a half ago. My brother was telling me about some videos for working out. I know he wanted to lose weight and it was something he brought up one day. I didn’t know anything about this workout till I was in bed ready to go to bed and saw an infomercial. I was really skeptical about workout videos and infomercials at the same time. So I saw the infomercial and was definitely surprised on the ideas that were presented there. P90x is a different kind of workout. They explained muscle confusion and how the body builds muscle. I was instantly interested for the fact that I was working out at the gym at least 3 times a week and also running. I wanted to get the body that they showed on the infomercial. But I only knew how to workout how people described to me or how I thought it should go. So as of now today, my coworkers and I have put a bet up. There is a $25 dollar buy in for 5 of us making the total to $125. We will be starting April 2 and finishing June 30th. This is the motivation I need because it will include people I see everyday and we will all have the experience together so we can talk through all of this. We can talk about what we hate and what we liked and can share what we learn here and maybe help others. So I invite anybody who reads this maybe to take a look at P90x and see if its something you can do.

Update

I have started P90X again this week. I am making a real goal of it now. I want to get to less than 10% body fat. I gained some weight back from when I ended last year and now I don’t want to make any excuses. Diet and exercise till I get the results that I want.

I did P90X to get ready for my wedding last year….so I would look nice. I didn’t follow it to exactly but tried to be as consistent as possible and found it to be very effective. I wasn’t dieting, just regular meals, didn’t cut carbs but didn’t eat ridiculously either and the results were there. I lost 20 lbs and I had great muscle definition in my arms and legs. I really didn’t do the ab exercises as much I should have either so I didn’t get the ripped abs but at least my stomach was flat. All in all, this is a great program. I just started back last Sunday, so I’m on day 11 of the program. I’ve been way more consistent this time (well so far). The plan is early in the morning….5 am everyday except weekends and rest days of course.

Let’s see how it works out this time. Keep it up. You’re looking good. I’m planning to do a half marathon next January in Miami also. Yours sounded painful but we’ll see how the training goes for that.

I have really been thinking about purchasing the P90X workout, but I’m not syre about the results. So whats your honest opinion about the workout plan? Is it really as good as they make it look?

What’s up Mark. I just started getting trying to get back into shape. I travel full time and have gained a few pounds eating out all the time. I figure you’ve passed the 90 day mark. How are you feeling about P90’s results? I watched the workout on youtube, and it’s obviously challenging. Just wanted to gather a few opinions before purchasing.

Sorry I didn’t get back sooner AJ, but P90X did wonders for me. I haven’t kept up with it but I do believe it will definitely help out for the better. I do think that if you can keep up with it the results will show. The diet plan is key though.

Does the P90x have an effect based upon age? I’m interested to know if babyboomers would try a program such as this one and have the changes that younger people get.

I do think it has an effect based on age. I think maybe some of the baby boomers wouldn’t get the effective results immediately because how intense the workouts are but can still get them if they keep on doing them.

I just started using P90X and I have to say it’s one of the hardest workouts I’ve ever tried. I’ve been going to the gym for the past 5 years and just finished my first half-marathon, but I couldn’t believe the cardio workout I got from the plyometrics CD. It’s definitley not for everyone, and you really have to work hard, but if you’re ready to push yourself its an awesome workout!

Me and my finacee both have completed month one following the diet fairly religiously. (which is more time consuming than the workouts). However only 2 weeks in and I lost 8 pounds. We’re as mentioned, a month in now tens of pounds lost and the fiancee although bot seeing as drastic results whieght wise (she already ran marathons) has lost some weight but inches all over.

Into our second month and we’re both so impressed we will stay the diet and the program till completion. It’s tough but I have lower back problems (compressed vertebrea) and since starting have yet to take the painkillers I’m typically prescribed… haven’t been in shape like this since highschool.
