Running with injuries

Submitted by on August 13, 2010 – 10:57 amNo Comment

So its been another week since I started running again. I think the last time I ran was about a month ago. I felt timid and no trying to get ahead of what my mind wants to do. I listened to my body and took it easy this time. I only ran about 3 miles. It took me almost 35 minutes. I was averaging a slow pace of almost 12 minutes a mile. I pretty much did a run walk.

It started with a jog and I may have started faster than the overall pace was but I felt it was the right speed to run at. I went about .45 mile and then walked .05 mile. It seemed to work out good. I wasn’t too tired at the end. I forgot to stretch but I am always doing that. I didn’t try to push it any faster than that. I didn’t feel that I could either. My running fitness has really gone down, but I am happy to be running again. I might started running twice a week. Next time I will probably go for a 3.5 mile run going about it the same way with a .45 run then walk .05. I like that. I don’t think I will be going over 5 miles but I will do my best to increase my speed.

I just have to keep in mind that I don’t want to over due it. I am getting older and injuries are always something that I think about.
