Sunday run 10 miles

Submitted by on November 30, 2009 – 10:39 amOne Comment

I wanted to go for a run that was supposed to be 12 miles. I started off really well and was maintaining a 8.5 min/mile pace. I got to the 3 mile marker and I had to slow down. I felt bloated and I think I was too tired. Maybe the fact that I was running in the afternoon rather than the morning. I had a lot of things going on through my head that day that kept me from going faster. My legs weren’t feeling 100% and I just wanted to finish.

I got to the 5 mile marker and 1 lap and refueled and grabbed some more gu. I continued on and my legs were ok but I think they could have felt better. I was going slow at a 9.5 min/mile pace. I couldn’t push it but I was glad that I was going again. I kept thinking mind over matter but it kept bothering me constantly. I just wanted to finish. At around the 3 mile marker I felt better. I was taking more breaks and I didn’t feel so bloated. I think my usual routine of taking a break at every mile helped me feel better. I maybe shouldn’t have eaten an hour before. I felt full. I almost wanted to drop by the porta potty. I kept going. Each additional quarter mile felt better and I decided that the 12 miles that I originally wanted to do wouldn’t cut it so I just finished the 10 miles.

I got to the end and stretched and felt tons better. I wish I could have done more knowing that this coming Saturday will probably be a 18 mile run. I have 8 weeks left till the marathon and I still need to raise some more money. Help me out guys. Click here to donate.

Post like these make me want to get back into running. I used to be a cross country runner in high school and loved it! That is probably the only thing I actually miss. Anyways I don’t have enough time to watch the kids and finish the p90x plus workouts so I guess I have to wait. This will just get me in shape so I can start running again. Good luck with your long runs, boy do I miss those!!
