Team in Training: 17 mile training run

Submitted by on December 7, 2009 – 11:33 amNo Comment

Training run was tough. I am not used to running with a group especially a group that is fast. 8:30 min/mile is fast for me especially over a long distance. I think I can handle that speed well up to 13 miles but then I get tired. I did get tired around that time and the last .5 miles was tough. I was going super slow. I need to add in more runs during the week. I hate training in the winter. I am a wuss. I like the heat. I can run in the heat and not worry too much about it but when its cold outside then its tough for me.

The coaches and mentors stressed the recovery this time. I think it worked really well and I didn’t get too sore. I stayed on my feet for most of the day and stretched. I was tired in the end at the end of the day but I was still able to do what I had to do. I did roll my feet on a hard ball to help stretch out my foot and continuing to move all through the day really kept my soreness to a minimum. Even today my feet feel really good. I think I can run today if I want. I probably won’t because I am going to do some upper body workout but I think it is good for me!
