Ten years and counting

It has been a while since I have written anything really. 2017 is a new year and I have made some new changes in my life and in my family’s life.

This week will be a my 10th anniversary of my first half marathon. Not that running marathons are easy, but I know this one won’t be as easy as the past few that I have had. It might almost seem like a first. I haven’t done any races in a long time. I haven’t done a race all of 2016. This seems to be almost 2 years since my last half marathon.

My last half marathon showed me that proper training can really make a difference. After that race I was injured. I was injured for a while. It really set me back big time. I had knee issues and caused me to step back and take a look at my own fitness. I had to make modifications and set realistic goals with running and workouts.

But this half is going to be different. I plan to run it with my two boys in a running stroller. I ran this race 5 years ago with my oldest son when he was just over 13 months. This time my oldest is 6 years old and my youngest is 2 years old. Combined, they weigh over 70 lbs. This will be a difficult run for me, just because I haven’t trained for it that well. I know I will be able to complete it, but not within the time I am shooting for.

I am also going to try to document this run, only because I think it will be the only half marathon that I have that will have both of them with me. Just another goal on my checklist to run with my boys. I like to include them with this as much as possible.
